Changing Your Perspective

Company Overview
Immersive Media Corp., founded in 1994, is an Alberta-based advanced digital video imaging company. Immersive's Telemmersion® System captures a global image using multiple video streams arranged according to geodesic geometry. The dodecahedron design captures omnidirectional video that is seamlessly stitched together and it can be viewed live or from a recording. The immersive video provides a terrestrial view of the entire environment for timely, factbased decision-making.

Telemmersion® System
Immersive's Telemmersion® System is a compact, lightweight, unified camera system. The system generates synchronized, high resolution video streams representing a full-motion spherical world that can be experienced live or in a recorded form.

Immersive's Telemmersion® System is an open environment designed to be integrated with other systems. The data captured with the Telemmersion® camera can be integrated with a geo-intelligence database for the monitoring of geopolitical, atmospheric and environmental conditions.

Immersive's Telemmersion® System records at 100 million pixels per second with photographic realism and full motion. Display options for the Telemmersion® imagery include live experience of the immersive world using a head mounted display, CD/DVD playback on a PC, a group immersive experience in a dome or panoramic environment, and distribution of Telemmersion® via broadband.

Business Model
Immersive's business model is based on selectively licensing its intellectual property (IP), selling and leasing technology products and providing necessary support services within target markets. The situational awareness market includes national defense, special operations, homeland security and numerous commercial customers. It is a market in which Immersive has already sold hardware to customers with on-going maintenance revenue. In the geomatics/geospatial market, Immersive intends to generate most of its revenue from repetitively licensing data captured with the DodecaTM 2000 to multiple customers. The target customers include but are not limited to the NGA (National Geospatial Intelligence Agency), urban planning, engineering companies, and navigation organizations for inclusion in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The third market is the commercial media market, which we believe will be primarily a services model and includes segment applications in commercial content production for general entertainment, video games, trade exhibition and advertising.

Management clearly understands the importance of being fiscally responsible and being able to fund growth, whether organic, through acquisition or through strategic partnerships. The team holds a deep knowledge base of its core industry and several related industries and is readily capable of exploiting opportunities within the projected $385 billion global market for digital imaging products and services (according to Kodak 2003).

Target Market
According to recent studies undertaken by Kodak, the global market for commercial digital imaging products and services is currently estimated to be $385 billion under three product categories, namely: a) information assembly/capture; b) information storage; and c) access/output. Immersive's Telemmersion® System can be applied to several existing and emerging market opportunities that currently utilize conventional digital video.

Immersive's business model is based on selectively licensing its IP, selling and leasing technology products and providing necessary support services within target market channels, focusing on critical applications. This will be accomplished through a small direct sales organization and through cooperative agreements with strategic partners within target market segments and channels.

Market Segmentation

  Situational Awareness
The Situational Awareness and Intelligence market is dominated by government organizations which include everything from Department of Defense (DOD) to small local law enforcement. Other potential customers include private companies for monitoring and security purposes.

According to the CIBC World Markets Report dated September 21,2004, "The United States is the world’s largest consumer of defense products, representing nearly one-half of the $900 billion in worldwide spending in 2004". Homeland defense is expected to be one of the fastest growing markets over the next few years, according to the DOD and the CIBC report, although a relatively new and small market they estimate a $12 billion in contract dollars in 2004.

The applications and benefits to be provided to customers fall into 4 distinct categories:

  • Live viewing of a situation, whether it be from a fixed location, or mobile on a vehicle (terrestrial or airborne), the customer has the ability to view live what is taking place.
  • Integrate with other "metadata" to add greater value and to directly correlate with the capture of the images eg. GPS, IMU data.
  • For Post Situational Analysis, the customer has a total record of what took place and can analyze the video, frame by frame, and from every angle should an incident occur; and
  • As the customer builds a database of spherical video there is a natural tendency to try to integrate with command and control of interactive intelligent databases; scenario modeling and simulation; specialized training.

  Asset Management
Managing assets is a complex process. Technological advancements are redefining traditional resource allocation techniques by offering omnidirectional cameras that are combined with image enhancing software and networking capabilities. Image moving beyond fixed images to effectively manage and plan your resources, and shifting from viewing static maps to a spherical video that puts you on-site.

Today's environment requires a new perspective that covers the entire process including gathering, processing, managing and when necessary acting upon intelligence as it relates to security. Having all of the information available to make decisive, informed, split second decisions is critical to ensure public sfety and asset protection.

  Commercial Media

  • Trade Exhibition and Advertising Industry
The North American Trade exhibition industry stages over 12,000 shows annually, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research. In 2004, the CEIR estimated the exhibition market at $21 billion in North America. The cost of a high quality exhibit for an individual Corporation's display/exhibit typically ranges between $500,000 - $1.5 million. The overall objective of the exhibitor is to gain and hold the attention of attendees. Immersive visualization of products for such events is a proven method for this task. This is an industry constantly in search of new and unique methods for delivering a message. Immersive intends to penetrate this market through lease/license agreements via strategic affiliations with established trade show organizers and production partners who service the industry.
  • Entertainment - Urban/Location Based Entertainment (U/LBE)
U/LBE immersive attractions cover a broad range of small strategically located attractions in non-traditional environments Based on U.S. Census Bureau and the National Association of Theatre Owners data, American LBE’s generated in excess of $20B in sales in 2001, more than all forms of spectator sports. The Telemmersion® System with its unique, cost-effective production features is ideal for this market. This market also opens a portal to the Video Games Industry.
  • Video Games
Photorealistic environments captured by the Telemmersion® System hold both economic and aesthetic value potential for games creators and publishers on several levels. Immersive's Telemmersion® System has the capability of providing a critical component for the next level of industry breakthrough and sustained growth.

Competitive Strengths
The Telemmersion® System produces high-resolution immersive motion picture images that can be experienced live or in a recorded form. The superior performance of the Telemmersion® System is due to proprietary and custom components as developed by the Corporation.

Management believes that significant characteristics distinguish Immersive Media from its competitors:

  • Products are designed and targeted for demanding professional market applications (mission critical), and the Corporation is highly regarded within its industry and targeted markets for this unique quality by imaging experts and content producers.
  • The Corporation's assets include a comprehensive body of patented intellectual property and an experienced management team with a specialized knowledge base.
  • The Telemmersion® System is unique, standardized, scalable and upgradeable to advances in general digital video technologies.
  • The Telemmersion® System produces truly immersive, full motion high-resolution (broadcast quality in every direction) imagery and content that is easily merged with other complementary information databases.
  • Telemmersion® is a highly cost effective approach to immersive video imaging with superior results.
